Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a forex broker?+
Start with regulation: only consider brokers licensed by a recognised authority such as the FCA, ASIC or CySEC. Then compare real trading costs (spreads and commissions), deposit and withdrawal methods, and platform quality. Our reviews score each broker on exactly these points.
What is a spread and why does it matter?+
The spread is the difference between a currency pair's buy and sell price, and it is the main cost of most forex trades. A broker quoting tighter typical spreads on major pairs like EUR/USD is cheaper to trade with, especially if you trade frequently.
Why is regulation so important?+
Regulated brokers must keep client money in segregated accounts, meet capital requirements and follow conduct rules — and you have a formal complaints route if something goes wrong. With an unregulated broker you have little or no protection.
How much money do I need to start trading?+
Many regulated brokers accept minimum deposits between $5 and $200, so you can start small. Whatever the minimum, only ever trade money you can afford to lose, and practise on a demo account first.
How can I avoid forex scams?+
Be sceptical of guaranteed profits, pressure to deposit quickly and 'account managers' who trade for you. Verify the broker's licence number directly on the regulator's register, test a small withdrawal early, and check our Brokers to Avoid section before you deposit.
